Retirement planning still top advice driver at unbiased.co.uk

Latest figures from unbiased.co.uk reveal that retirement planning continues to be the number-one advice driver in the search for an independent financial adviser.
 
Personal retirement planning was the number-one advice driver, accounting for 35% of the total. Equity release also made the top ten, accounting for 3% of inquiries.

In terms of requests for a mortgage adviser, remortgages were the second most popular, accounting for 32% of the total. Equity release slotted in at number 7%, representing 7% of total mortgage adviser requests.

Karen Barrett, chief executive at unbiased.co.uk, comments: “With the coalition government underway and an emergency budget imminent, many consumers will be scrutinising their finances in a bid to understand how they will be affected by any changes.
 
“Alterations to pensions and tax levels, such as capital gains tax, will have significant repercussions for those affected, and it is crucial for everyone to understand if and how this will impact them.
 
“Retirement planning is a hugely complex area and only an independent financial adviser can look at all factors relevant to an individual and their circumstances, and recommend the best solution for them.”
